“Duke” is a personable, well-socialized Male Border Collie with great potential both as a companion and a working dog. He’s friendly with everyone he meets, he truly doesn’t know a stranger, and has been raised around children and a variety of farm animals.

Duke has been introduced to sheep and is already showing strong working instinct, natural eye, a ton of style, and natural balance.  While it’s too early to know if he’ll develop the bite needed for pushy cattle, his intensity increases daily. He's shown no signs of fear or hesitation in the pen. He needs plenty of coaching to leave the pen after a working session; he’s all heart and doesn’t want to quit.

He’s currently learning working commands, including “walk up,” “look back,” and direction, and is progressing well. Alongside stock work, Duke is excelling in his obedience training. He understands sit, down, stay, and heels nicely on lead. He’s also retrieving from water and rides calmly in both the car and the Polaris.

Duke has a quiet, loyal temperament. He loves to sit next to you or rest at your feet and keeps close watch on his people wherever they go. Whether you're looking for a working dog, companion, or a combination of both with a strong foundation, Duke is ready and willing to continue the journey.
